Overview

EDF Energy offers a range of Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) tariffs, including several fixed-rate export options for customers who install solar panels (and batteries) through EDF, as well as more flexible variable export tariffs available to a wider audience.

Below we outline EDF’s current export tariff options, starting with the highest guaranteed fixed export rates, followed by EDF’s variable SEG tariffs.

Export Exclusive 12m V2 (24p per kWh)

Export Exclusive 12m V2 is EDF’s highest fixed export tariff. It pays a guaranteed 24p per kWh for electricity exported to the grid over a 12-month fixed term. This tariff is designed for customers who install solar panels (and optional battery storage) through EDF.

• Must be an EDF Energy electricity customer.

Export Exclusive 12m (20p per kWh)

SEG Export Variable

OVO’s highest fixed export rates are reserved for customers who buy their solar (and optional battery storage) through OVO, while lower fixed-rate options are available for OVO customers and non-OVO customers depending on eligibility.

SEG Install Exclusive (20p per kWh)

SEG Install Exclusive is OVO’s highest fixed export rate. It pays 20p per kWh when OVO installs both your solar panels and a home storage battery. This tariff is designed to reward customers who purchase a solar + battery bundle through OVO.

• Must be an OVO electricity customer.
• Solar panels and a home battery installed by OVO.
• Installed capacity must be within OVO’s eligibility limits.
• Smart meter required to record export readings.

SEG Beyond Exclusive (12p per kWh)

SEG Beyond Exclusive pays a fixed 12p per kWh and is available to OVO electricity customers who have eligible renewable technology, even if it was not installed by OVO.

• Must be an OVO electricity customer.
• Eligible renewable technology (e.g. solar) installed by a certified installer.
• Installed capacity must be within OVO’s eligibility limits.

SEG (4p per kWh)

OVO’s standard SEG tariff pays a fixed 4p per kWh and is available to eligible exporters even if their electricity supply is with another provider.

Next Export Premium v3 (17.5p per kWh)

Next Export Premium v3 is E.ON Next’s highest fixed export tariff. It pays a guaranteed 17.5p per kWh for electricity exported to the grid over a 12-month fixed term. This tariff is available to homeowners who have had solar panels and/or battery storage installed by E.ON-approved installers.

• Solar panels and/or battery installed by E.ON Installation Services.
• Installation must have taken place on or after 10 November 2025.
• Maximum export system size of up to 15kW.
• MCS or Flexi-Orb certified installation.
• Smart meter capable of half-hourly export readings.

Next Export Exclusive v3 (13p per kWh)

Next Export Exclusive v3 offers a fixed export rate of 13p per kWh for a 12-month fixed term. It is available to E.ON Next electricity customers who meet the eligibility requirements.

• MCS or Flexi-Orb certified solar installation.
• Maximum export system size of up to 15kW.
• Smart meter capable of half-hourly export readings.

Next Flex Export v1 (Variable)

Next Flex Export is E.ON Next’s variable SEG tariff. The export rate can change over time and does not offer a guaranteed fixed price per kWh. This option is suitable for homeowners who prefer flexibility rather than committing to a fixed export contract.

Some tariffs are available to anyone with eligible solar panels, while others are exclusive to Octopus electricity customers.

Outgoing Octopus (Fixed)

Outgoing Octopus is a simple, flat-rate export tariff that pays a fixed 15p per kWh for all exported electricity. It’s ideal for homeowners who want predictable export payments without time-of-day pricing or battery optimisation.

This tariff is available to eligible customers and does not require a battery.

• No battery required.

Octopus Flux

Octopus Flux is a time-of-use import and export tariff for Octopus customers with solar panels. Export rates vary throughout the day, typically offering higher payments during peak demand periods and lower rates at off-peak times.

Unlike Intelligent Octopus Flux, battery control is managed by the homeowner rather than automatically by Octopus. Export prices are variable and are not guaranteed at a fixed pence-per-kWh rate.

Intelligent Octopus Flux

Intelligent Octopus Flux is designed for Octopus Energy customers with solar panels and a compatible home battery. Rather than paying a fixed export price, this tariff uses smart, time-of-day pricing to encourage exporting electricity during periods of high demand.

Export rates vary depending on time of day and market conditions. When paired with a compatible battery, Octopus can intelligently manage charging and exporting to target higher-value export periods automatically. Exact rates are not fixed and may change.
